Blogtober Day 31: Halloween outfit

Last day of Blogtober and its a good 'un if I say so myself. Being my birthday on Halloween we went out for the night and I'll show you want I wore.
It is a pure miracle I got my eyes looking like this I can never usually do it but I was super happy how they turned out.

By bestie sent me this lovely spider glow in the dark fake nails and they went perfectly with my outfit

Adding a bit of blood (lip gloss) and a heck of a lot of hairspray finished my look.

On to my outfit and What I wore was a black dress I had in the wardrobe for awhile and over it, now get this its halairous but I found an outfit I wore when I was about eight or nine and I kept it because I loved it so much so I wore the top off it over my dress, adding witch tights I got off my mum for my birthday and some black wedges from Primark.. oh and I musn't forget the birthday banner, and my look was complete.

Blogtober Day 30: Birthday celebrations at the ISPCA

Today was by far one of the best days volunteering at the ISPCA not just because all the staff surprised me with a cake and a lovely card signed from them all, but because it was the busiest and most active day. I was on Cattery today, as I'm pretty sure  mentioned before, the new born puppies and foster puppies live in Cattery too so it aint just cats. Thirteen puppies, two mummy dogs and god knows how many cats equals a lot of mess and it was just endless today, the minute you clean up after one another's going in the corner. Cleaning took us up till break and the thing thats had a smile on my face all day. All the staff were in today which was unusual but made it brilliant so when I went up for tea they were all sitting down asking me how I was and everything, the thing that made me suspicious though was the biscuits and cake on the table that no one was eating, which isn't normal for this place its a help yourself kind of canteen. Then came in my volunteer coordinator with another bigger cake lit up with candles and everyone sang happy birthday and they gave me the card. While I dished up the cake ("I wouldn't have any left for myself the way I was going" according to one of the them) they all brought in extra chairs, being so many in there wasn't room for us all and we had a nice relaxing break with a scrumpsh cake.
Back to work and finishing off the last of the cleaning it was time for food, walks more cleaning, getting a bed set up for a new cat coming in, some more cleaning, picture taking and lastly.. You guessed it just a little bit more cleaning.
This brought us to lunch which was awfully quiet as most of them work through lunch so I had a good read of the Xpose Magazine. After lunch it was time to clean some kittens eyes, prepare all the cats foods for the evening, walk the mummy dogs, wash litter trays (as disgusting as it sounds), clean the rabbits hutch plus spoil them with some bunny biscuits and also clean out the Canary's cage.
By the time I had all this done it was clocking off time. After saying good bye to each of the puppies, mummy's and cats I went home full of joy at how kind everyone was and how much effort they put in to wish me a happy birthday. Volunteering here has deffo been one of my best choices and I will never forget how amazing it has been.. not even finished there yet so lots more to come.

Blogtober Day 29 Gap Year Adventures: Halloween camp Day two

On to day two and the final day of Halloween camp at the Youth Cafe and it was packed with loads of activities. To start off the kids decorated goodie bags we made from printed basket templates and stapled together along with cut out bats, ghosts and pumpkins. They were certainly creative and could beat any Stella McCarthy bags on the runway. After taking a break a lovely lady from Jumping Clay came to do some projects with the kids. If you haven't heard of Jumping Clay (like me) its an amazing little idea, basically like play dough but more durable, cleaner and easier to sculpt. It also is jasmine scented so perfect for creating a relaxing atmosphere. I really enjoyed watching the demonstration and I think Jumping Clay is an amazing product and a great little thing to keep kids (and adults) busy. After the Jumping Clay master pieces were made and left aside to dry the kids packed up all and we went to the park for a few minutes. After bundling them all on to the bus they headed off to the cinema and I had getting off early had a half day.
I super enjoyed this camp it was perfect timing to start volunteering when this was going on as I got more time to get to know the kids and an idea of the place. Back to Homework group next week, oh thee excitement I can't keep it in.

This is a similar Jumping Clay product to what the kids made.
You can find Jumping clay here: I highly recommend it for all age groups.

Blogtober Day 28: Gap Year Adventures: Halloween Fun

Back at the Youth Cafe today and the start of Halloween Camp. We had six kids aged 8 to 11 in for a fun morning of all things Halloween. Starting off we did a get -to- know- you circle followed by Halloween story telling, Next things got messy. We (should I say the kids.. but I did join in too) painted masks and also lanterns. After break we made Halloween cupcakes and biscuits which I got to do with the kids and set each one a task, such as putting in the egg, mixing the bowl.. etc. While the buns and biscuits were cooking we jumped into some Halloween games. First up good old Basin Ducking. I know what your thinking kids and bowls of water not a good idea. You'd be right. Let's just say the was more water on the kids (and floor) than in the bowls but they had great fun and ducked out loads of treats. After they were somewhat dry we did a brilliant game of snap apple where the boys did beat us but the girls finished the entire apple between them.
I actually really enjoyed the day, probably just as much as the kids. It's great to get an opportunity like this to get experience in different areas and also have fun. Sure thats what a Gap Year is for.

Blogtober Day 27: Letters of love

Last year my best friend moved abroad and ever since we couldn't have been closer. It's funny the further apart we are the more we talk, have in common and enjoy hearing from each other.
"Friends are forever never apart, maybe in distance but never in heart".
Getting unexpected letters and packages in the post is the best feeling ever and today was a totes emosh one. With my birthday coming up my bestie spoiled me rotten with loads of little gifts, letters and cards. Nothing shows love like a letter/note and today with so many internet based gadgets letters are becoming uncommon, we're lucky to have a friendship that revolves around us sending letters and keeping in touch by pen and paper.Since you've Were Gone by Morgan Matson is the perfect book for us. It's about two best friends who were separated and one left behind a list for the other to complete, thing is this list isn't ordinary tasks it's things to get the friend out of her comfort zone and boost her confidence. I send the book to my bestie when I finished it and we send each other a list now too filled with the most ridiculous but fun task.  Nothing makes me happier than seeing my bestie's hand writing come through the letter box or spending hours writing a long letter to her of all the going-ons that happen. Below is a picture of all the beautiful things she sent me that I will treasure forever.

Jewelry, Halloween fake nails, pictures, letters and a... wind up eye toy just because

Do you have a pen pal or family abroad you write to? isn't it the best feeling to get a letter from someone you love in the post?
let me know all about it in the comments below

Blogtober Day 26: Pumpkin Festival going-ons

We headed off to Virginia in County Cavan today for the Pumpkin festival. I really am in the Autumnal/Halloween mood and I thought this sounded perfect. There was your typical show stalls, but then the fun began. The Fuzzy Burgers jammed out all day playing classics while the pumpkin judging went on. Finally when it started to get dark the parade began. I don't know the name of the performers but they are AMAZING this is my second time to see them and they will always impress. Along with the performers was a Samba band and they kept us entertained for ages watching in awe. After the parade finished we along with a huge crowd of spectators headed down to the lake for an incredible firework display. I may have gone overload on the picture taking put I loved all the things this festival had to offer.

In six days I turn 19 so I've set a list of 20 things I want to do before I'm 20 starting the minute I turn nineteen because I actually want to tick this things off. Blogtober Day 24: All things gossip

It's probably only in the last year I've even been interested in what I'm wearing other than jeans and a t-shirt. But finally my inner girly girl is appearing and I am defiantly interested now. There's nothing better than finding a good magazine that appeals too all your interest weather its beauty, fashion or just plain gossip. .well or all.
Kiss was my absolute favorite mag, unfortunately I'm deffo over that age range now. So I've been checking out some magazines to find my next favorite and these are just a few.

LOOK magazine is, clearly by the title, a fashion mag but also throws in a bit of celeb gossip too. I love this mag for its advice on nailing the latest trends and shopping the high street to find amazing bargains and to recreate looks seen on celebs.
This is deffo a mag for fashion lovers and is really a good read.

I had never heard of Glamour until I cam across it one day in the newsagents. It is the perfect little handbag magazine being a small mag but still packed with all things beauty and fashion. There was also great coupons in the mag unfortunately only suitable in the UK.  I really loved this mag again it was packed with so much advice and the best beauty products out there.

I haven't yet had the chance to find Teen Vogue but I CAN NOT wait to. I've read a review on it and seen the website and it is a perfect mag for great style tips and getting all the gossip in celebsville. It will deffo be my next mag to check out.

Ahhh so many choice I'l have to pick a different one each month. What are your favorite magazines?? or any ideas on what I should be reading let me know in the comments.

Blogtober Day 23: Gap Year Adventures: Charity shop volunteering

Another day, another new place to start volunteering...Wait déjà vu moment right there (yesterdays  post).
Today was my first day in the PaperBag Princess, a local charity shop raising funds for The Hope Foundation, a charity that helps street and slum children in India.
It is so surreal to open up the shop, set up all the stands and fill the till. I've never had the experience before and never have been so trusted with something. It really is an amazing place to work, not only getting to have a good look at amazing second hand buys but also its a really positive, upbeat store decorated in bright colours with tinsel (not too Christmassy though) and everybody coming in is always excited by the things they can find.
It was quite a busy day with a farmers market going on outside the store so lucky for me I was kept busy. I really loved having to price all the clothes and then sort them into sizes (because it meant I got to get first pick if there was something nice I saw, which there was.. quite often). I don't think working in an ordinary store would be as interesting as a charity shop because you always have in the back of your mind your doing this for a good cause its not just any old 9-5 job and there's just something about finding the most random things in a charity shop but making it work for you.
I know I'm going to love volunteering in this shop for the year and can not wait for my next shift.
I'm probably going to come home with more clothes than I leave with anyway.

Blogtober Day 22: Gap Year Adventures:Volunteering in a Youth Cafe

Another day, another new place to start volunteering. I recently seen a local Youth Cafe was looking for volunteers and I signed up straight away because I've grown up with loads of kids in our house (my mum was a childminder) and it is also another different experience outside my main interests (animals).
Today I started my first day and it was with an after school homework group of about 6 to 11 year olds. After showing of my expertise in the cheese sandwich department I literally spent two hours cutting out Ghost stencils for the Halloween camp next week and became so cold and stiff by the time I was finished. Finally after putting all the Ghosts back in the closet (nah that joke only works for skeletons) I helped out some of the kids with homework, which was Maths of course so they had to help me first. After they finished their homework I 'supervised' while they played Hangman and Uno until it was time to go home. It was a fun day and a great experience.
Boy! kids are lucky now with Youth Cafe's to chill in after school, get a snack and meet their friends. In my day (you'd swear I'm about 70) we stayed outside until the streetlights came on then we came home for tea.
Short little post today this was my main adventure that happened,I'l keep you updated on my Volunteering adventures.

Blogtober Day 21 : American shops wishlist

Being in the middle of Ireland I'm well and truly away from all the top brand American stores and because I am a huge fan of American YouTuber's and Bloggers I've falling in love (and become insanely jealous) of some of the unique things they can pick up over there that we can only dream off. So to quench my thirst for all things American on the high street I've made this little wish list of some of my favorites. I searched the 'New arrivals' section on each of the stores website because I would be drooling over all the other sections all day if I started.

 Loving this trousers and shirts.

OMG whyy can't this store be in Ireland. They literally have a Bohemian section. I want it all.
